FAST, ACCURATE AND COORDINATE WORK AT FERREXPO POLTAVA MINING

In the process of extracting minerals, it became necessary to process them in such a way as to increase the content of useful components in them. Such a strategy for the development of mills was formed almost immediately after the emergence of the industry and the demand for the products of this industry. Due to the pace of development of the country, industry and business in general, the reconstruction of such plants was not carried out often. But that time has come. In 2019, we carried out work to modernize production line No. 2 for the production of iron ore pellets in order to increase the productivity of FERREXPO POLTAVA MINING
The complexity of the implementation of such a project is easily explained, since the shutdown of production for a long period of time for work was tantamount to large losses in productivity and bringing specific technological equipment (furnaces) to an inoperable state.
The planned term for stopping the line for modernization was strictly limited and amounted to 55 days. During this period it was necessary to carry out:
  • Complete replacement of obsolete MCC shields, delivered in 1976, with new high-tech intelligent MCC shields based on the OKKEN design with roll-out cells;
  • Complete replacement of control cables and modernization of networks;
  • Partial replacement of power supply cables;
  • Increasing the safety measures for the maintenance of technological equipment and the installation of safety switches;
  • Installation of local control and emergency stop posts;
In addition to increasing productivity, the purpose of this modernization was to increase the reliability of the production line, reduce downtime as a result of accidents and repairs, and bring it into line with the new FERREXPO POLTAVA MINING requirements for labor safety.
Modernization works were carried out according to the project developed by us!
The customer’s key requirement was to meet the planned shutdown time for the line. Reconstruction of this scale was carried out at the plant for the first time. An independent American company, J.T. THORPE & SON, INC. More than 120 specialists were involved during the shutdown of the line.

The work was carried out in the difficult conditions of the global modernization of the line, with the constant need to coordinate the work with other participants in the reconstruction, carrying out parallel work on the same production sites.

Start-up and adjustment work at critical stages of work was carried out around the clock.

As a result, all work on the installation and commissioning of electrical equipment was completed 2 days ahead of schedule.

As never before, we were glad to cooperate, we сoped with all the challenges and completed the assigned tasks!
